Credit Transfer

Career Technical Credit Transfer

One of the most significant components of Career-Technical education in Ohio is the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school.  Click on any of the following headings to learn more about this valuable option. Students who successfully complete specified technical programs in Ohio are eligible to have technical credit transfer to public colleges and universities.  The credit is referred to as a CTAG.  The acronym stands for Career Technical Assurance Guides, and they are actually advising tools that assist students as they move from secondary to postsecondary institutions in Ohio.
This link will take you to the career tech programs in Ohio that are currently eligible for CTAG's.  Once on the site, click on a program to see the college credit that is available if your career center or school meets the necessary requirements.

The Ohio Board of Regents has prepared an excellent promotional video that explains the Ohio Transfer to Degree Guarantee.
Bob Haas, a Regional Manager with the Ohio Board of Regents CT2 Project, has prepared this excellent document that defines some of the relevant terminology and details the process for course approval.
The Ohio Department of Higher Education has created a crosswalk between all CTAN courses and ODE’s courses.  This crosswalk contains currently available CTANs by pathway.  It indicates if secondary schools need to do a full submission for each CTAN or if the Affirmation Form can be used.  OTC’s and colleges must always do a full submission.  It also shows the requirements, credentials, and licenses needed to access college credit.
ODHE has prepared a document that will help you understand the secondary CTAG submission model.  It also features the newest CTAG's with a crosswalk to the ODE courses.

Student Verification Form for CTAG Credit

Part I must be completed by the sudent.  Parts II and III must be completed by the Sending/Verifying Institution (career center or high school.)  Each verification form is specific to a career pathway.  Click HERE for Parts I & II, then select your pathway.  Click HERE for Part III.  See your Guidance Counselor for help with the completion of the document.  If they have questions, have them contact any one of the Central Region Tech Prep consultants: Dave Gorenflo, Carrie Scheiderer, Ruth Ann Falconer, or Nancy Dawson.  The completed form must be submitted by this institution to the college where the credit is being sought.
